The Opioid Management Toolkit for Physicians

taking prescription pill with milkWith the increasing scope of opioid abuse and the challenges involved with safely prescribing narcotics, Canadian physicians are requesting assistance to safely prescribe opioids for their patients. Despite the successful release of McMaster University’s “Canadian Guideline for Safe and Effective Use of Opioids for Chronic Non-Cancer Pain”, translating this knowledge effectively at the point of care remains a challenge for front-line clinicians.

In an attempt to help, CognisantMD has released a free, comprehensive and easy-to-use toolkit for physicians to use with their electronic medical record. The tools incorporate guideline-based decision support and are built for efficient use at the point of care.

The full toolkit is included below. All tools are freely available; however patient-facing tools require a subscription to Ocean, and physician-facing tools are currently available for TELUS PS Suite EMR only.
