Setting up your Ocean Account
To track the status of your referrals or communicate with a referral recipient following the initial referral, you need a secure Ocean account.

Configuring your EMR and Ocean
These reference guides will walk you through the steps to configure your TELUS PS Suite, OSCAR or Accuro Electronic Medical Record (EMR) to send eReferrals using Ocean. Prior to configuring your EMR, please ensure to set up your Ocean account (see the Setting up your Ocean Account reference guides for instructions).
Receiving an eReferral in your EMR
These reference guides will help you become more familiar with Ocean and walk you through the steps to receive an eReferral from your TELUS PS Suite, OSCAR or Accuro Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
Prior to sending an eReferral from your EMR, please ensure to set up your Ocean account and configure your EMR (see reference guides above for instructions).
Receiving an eReferral in the Ocean Portal
This reference guides will help you to become more familiar with Ocean and walk you through the steps to receive an eReferral from the Ocean Portal. The reference guide is intended for eReferral senders not currently using an integrated Electronic Medical Record (i.e. Telus Practice Solutions Suite, OSCAR or Accuro).
Prior to sending an eReferral from the Ocean Portal, please ensure to set up your Ocean account (see reference guide above for instructions).

These resources are required to use Ocean eReferrals from TELUS PS Suite. Click on the resource name to download it.
- Ocean Custom Form
This is the latest version of the Ocean custom form. Current Ocean users may want to update to the latest version of the custom form.
- Ocean Attachment Exporter
This is the “paper clip” option on the Ocean custom form that allows you to green bar and export notes as a pdf.
- Ocean eReferral Custom Form
This is the eReferral custom form that shows you the status of your referral.
- Ocean Toolbar
This is the latest version of the Ocean toolbar that includes the referral button (also found on the custom form but it is called Find Health Service). You don’t need to download this one if you would prefer to keep your existing toolbar.
These forms aren’t required to use Ocean with PS Suite but you may find them helpful.
- Download the Waterloo Wellington Diabetes Central Intake Custom Form – This is a PSS custom form that you can use for Diabetes Central Intake referrals. It is not active yet, so we will let you know when you can start using it.
- Download the CMH DI Requisition – This is the PSS custom form to refer to Cambridge Memorial Hospital DI without leaving the EMR. This form is live, so you can use it now if there are referrals being sent to CMH.
- Download the CMH MRI Requisition -This is the PSS custom form to refer to CMH MRI without leaving the EMR. This form is live, so you can use it now if there are referrals being sent to CMH.

How do I reset my password?
Go to the Ocean sign in page, and select ‘forgot password?’ You will be prompted to provide your Ocean user name and email address. You will then receive an email with a link to reset your password.
How do I add a user to my site?
There are two options available to add a user to your site.
- For users with an existing Ocean account:
Login to the Ocean Portal. Select the Admin tab followed by Users (on the left menu). Scroll to the bottom of the page to find the box labelled add user to this site. Enter the user’s email or user name and select the correct user name.
- For new users:
Login to the Ocean Portal. Select the Admin tab followed by Users (on the left menu). Scroll to the bottom of the page and select Invite Colleague (on the right hand side of the page). Enter your colleague’s email address and select ok. Your colleague will receive an email prompting them to create an Ocean user account. Once they have created an Ocean account, they will be automatically added to your site.
How can I find healthcare providers that are currently accepting eReferrals?
You can search the Ocean eReferral directory at oceanhealthmap.ca to find healthcare providers by location and specialty. Providers that are currently accepting eReferrals will appear at the top of the listing results with a green arrow.
In the Waterloo Wellington LHIN, the following three pathways are scheduled to start receiving eReferrals (please note these are currently under development and not accepting eReferrals):
– Waterloo Wellington Diabetes Central Intake
– Waterloo Wellington Orthopedic Specialists
– Waterloo Wellington Chronic Disease Prevention and Management
What is a “Test Listing” site in the directory?
Sites marked as “Test Listing” are under development and not accepting eReferrals.
What EMRs are supported?
The Ocean eReferral Network is integrated with OSCAR EMR, Telus PS Suite EMR, and Accuro EMR.
Can I access the Ocean eReferral Network anywhere?
Yes. The system is a secure, web-based application that can be accessed using a standard web browser.
