Our check-in kiosks are a vital component for clinics looking to streamline check-in and alleviate waiting room congestion. We’re excited to share some new updates that’ll help clinics operate more smoothly and use their check-in kiosks more efficiently.
Walk-in clinics or FHT/FHOs with urgent care clinics can now use Check-In Kiosks for walk-in patients. After swiping their health card or entering in their health number at the kiosk, patients without existing appointments are automatically matched with the next available appointment slot in the “Walk-In Provider Schedule”.
For automated appointment scheduling, use Tablet Rules and Keywords to assign patients to different provider schedules based on specific criteria. In the example below, only patients under the age of 18 are booked with provider A while provider B sees everyone else.

Accuro Users: Automatic Chart Creation for New Patients
We’ve simplified the process of managing new patients at check-in for Accuro users. Upon arrival, new patients complete a blank demographic form. Once they are done, Ocean creates a new patient chart using the demographic information and automatically populates a new encounter note. Collecting email consent during this part of the process is also made easy if an email consent form is added to the kiosks’s standard queue. If the email consent tool bar is installed in the EMR, the consent status will update in the chart upon creation.
This feature is also available for accepted submissions from Website Forms and incoming eReferrals. To enable this feature, log in to the Ocean Portal, go to the Admin tab and under “Site Features” and check the box for “Allow accepted eRequests/eReferrals to create patients in your EMR.”

Set-up instructions and other helpful guides are still available in our support portal but if you prefer the peace of mind, consider hiring a technician to come in and complete the installation for you.
