We’re Growing! Meet the New Ocean Team

If you’re an Ocean client, you likely know that we take a very personal, hands-on approach to customer service and we pride ourselves on knowing our customers. Over the past couple of months, our tight-knit team has added a few members, so we wanted to take a moment to introduce the newest additions to the Ocean family. If you reach out with questions, don’t be surprised if you hear back from Ingrid, Hope, Kamilah, Emily or Ben!

Kamilah Carter, Graphic Designer

Kamilah has spent the past three summers here at CognisantMD, playing a key role in developing the Ocean Brand, from the CognisantMD website through to the Ocean Portal UI. With a background in Nanotechnology Engineering at Waterloo and a Graphic Design degree from OCAD (where she was a top performer), Kamilah brings an invaluable combination of skills to the CognisantMD team (as well as her adorable pet hedgehog, the unofficial Ocean office mascot).

Ingrid Cheung, Customer Success Associate

Ingrid brings her passion for technology and healthcare to the CognisantMD team. While completing her Master of Health Informatics (MHI), Ingrid gained valuable experience working at the Ontario Ministry of Health Long-Term Care (MOHLTC), the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences (ICES), and St. Michael’s Hospital. Ingrid will be on the frontline with our customers, helping to solve challenges, deal with questions, and help to grow and improve our training and support materials.

Ben Lai, Developer

Ben is joining our team as a developer with an operations focus, helping to support Greg and his team as we continue to scale the Ocean Platform. Ben graduated with a Bachelor of Computer Science from the University of Waterloo and is playing a key role in helping to integrate the Ocean Platform with additional tools and platforms.

Hope Latam, Senior Customer Success Specialist

Hope joins us from her role as a QIDSS specialist for seven FHTs in the Waterloo-Wellington LHIN, where she helped to develop and manage various quality improvement projects, ministry reporting, and data standardization initiatives. Hope brings her rockstar EMR skills and a deep understanding of clinic needs and workflows to the team. We’re thrilled to have her expertise on board as we continue to build out regional quality improvement and eReferral program roll-outs on the Ocean Platform.

Emily MacFarlane, Developer

Emily first joined us as a co-op from the University of Waterloo, and very quickly blew us away with her incredible coding skills and ability to independently work through problems. We couldn’t be happier that Emily has agreed to join us full-time to help us bring more awesome features to the Ocean Platform.

Congratulations Heather!

As we’ve welcomed the newest Ocean team members, we also recently (very sadly) said farewell to Heather Thomson, our amazing Director of Customer Success. Heather played a key role in helping to grow and manage the Ocean eReferral Network project roll-out, while at the same time becoming a go-to resource for many of our customers and a key part of our team. She is definitely missed, but we are so happy for her next career move, as she takes on a full-time Professor role at the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Nursing. Congratulations Heather!!
